Our Impact

Europe

In July of 2019, Mark climbed Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe. Peaks for Purpose supported SOS Children’s Villages Russia, an organization located in the district of Tomilino that provides support to the local children and their families. In addition to monetary donations, Peaks for Purpose also donated activity books and art supplies.

Mark dedicated his climb of the highest mountain in Europe to the superstars at SOS Children’s Villages Russia. Before his climb, he visited the children’s village, where he was able to meet the children and get a special flag signed by them.

Their warm wishes and signatures accompanied Mark to the top of Europe!

The flag was later deposited in the children’s village and put on display where it can remind those, that anything is possible!

South America

In February of 2019, Mark climbed Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America. Peaks for Purpose supported Quinta Betel, a remote children’s home at the base of the Andes that provides support to the local children and their families. With help from monetary donations, Peaks for Purpose was able to connect Quinta Betel through the installation of a 40-ft wireless internet tower on the property. The internet was officially up and running as of Tuesday, April 10th, 2019!

The internet is one of the most powerful tools for education. The children needed access to Wi-Fi-enabled devices for assistance with school projects, homework, etc. which is why getting the remote children’s home connected was a primary focus. As education evolves and adapts with technology, so must Quinta Betel in how it utilizes educational resources.

Peaks for Purpose also donated laptops which will not only help Quinta Betel but all children’s homes in the region with after-school programs and alternative therapy!
